RECAP
The Seven Sealed Scroll was given to The Lord Jesus Christ upon His triumphant ascension and return to Heaven, having defeated Satan, death and the grave in His own- death, burial and resurrection.
Jesus Christ is the only one in heaven or on Earth found worthy to open the book and it is given to Him as He took His seat of honor at the Right Hand of God the Father. From there, the first four seals were opened, unleashing a series of four spirits- known as the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who bring judgments and tribulation to
the world.
The 5th seal is then opened which brings the spirit of persecution and martyrdom that Christians have experienced from the
first century and continue to today.
The opening of the 6th Seal triggers a great earthquake and the Day of The Lord, the time at which God will pour out His wrath on the unbelieving world. Revelation Chapter 6 ends with the powerful people of the world fully understanding that the cataclysmic global
earthquake and events of the 6th seal are of divine origin.
This shaking of Heaven and Earth is the time that God rises to personally intervene and judge the centuries of sin and evil of the unbelieving, unrepentant humanity. It is also a wake up call to Israel to return to the worship of the God of their fathers. Then we see the sealing of the 144,000 Jewish witnesses, who will share the Gospel of the Kingdom with Jewish people and the world in the first part of the Day of The Lord/Great Tribulation (Rev. 7:14). These are the events of Revelation Chapter 7 and serves as the backdrop for Revelation
Chapter 8 and the opening of the 7th seal.
The Seventh Seal brought forth silence. The entire assembly, the elders, the four living creatures, the 144,000 and the great multitude of people all stopped singing and worshiping, there was silence in heaven for half an hour. This does not mean a pause in the events themselves, but an awe-filled stillness as all of Heaven was reverently waiting for the events which are now to be disclosed.
The silence in Heaven is a sign of God’s impending devastating judgment. When a people or nation or even the world is so far gone into rebellion against God with no repentance, The Lord removes His Holy people and allows for a period of “silence”, right before His judgements are unleashed onto the world. see Zechariah 2:6-13
2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.
3 Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. 4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.
Seven trumpets were given to Seven Angels, a Golden Censer was given to another Angel who went and stood at the alter. The Golden Censer was filled with incense along with the prayers of all God’s people. The smoke from the Censer went up before God, then the Angel hurled the Censer down to the earth causing peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.
The Trumpets 6-13
6 Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them.
7 The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A
third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.
8 The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, 9 a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
10 The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water — 11 the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.
12 The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.
13 As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!”
The Seven Seals (Rev 6) introduces the Seven Trumpets (Rev 8), the Seven Trumpets introduce the Seven Bowls (Rev 16), all represent Gods’ judgments. The judgments get progressively worse and more devastating as the end times progress. The Seven Seals, Trumpets and Bowls are all connected to one another. The Seven Trumpets are the “contents” of the Seventh Seal
The first trumpet causes hail and fire that destroys much of the
plant life in the world (Revelation 8:7).
The second trumpet brings about what seems to be a meteor hitting the oceans and causing the death of much of the world’s sea
life (Revelation 8:8-9).
The third trumpet is similar to the second, except it affects the
world’s lakes and rivers instead of the oceans (Revelation 8:10-11).
The fourth of the seven trumpets causes the sun, the moon,
and the stars to be darkened (Revelation 8:12).
